Did you know that you can receive additional Stafford loan money for the Spring semester if you change grade levels? Here are a few facts (remember loans are repaid after you leave school):
Credits Completed Stafford loan limit If you think you will be moving to the next grade level AFTER the Fall semester credits are counted, please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or stop by the Financial Aid Office in Heston Hall to complete a form. Please do this before you leave for break so we can have your additional loan processed and the funds here for the start of the Spring semester. If you have already sent in a request, you do not need to do another. Please remember that these grade levels are based on completed credits, not attempted. If you drop or withdraw from a class, it does not count for your grade level. Once you move to the Junior level, 64 credits, there are no additional funds for moving to Senior level. Also, the Federal government increased the Unsubsidized Stafford loan limit by $2,000 per year. If you did not accept this amount earlier, you can still do so for the spring semester (if you have remaining loan eligibility). Other alternative loan options can be found at www.dsu.edu/financial-aid. Email or call Melinda at 256-5018 if you have any questions. Good Luck on finals! |
