You may have heard in the news lately that the Lake County Food Pantry is running dangerously low on supplies this year due to the economic downturn.  Kudos to the Karl E. Mundt Library staff for their recent Food for Fines campaign to collect food for the Food Pantry; and to the other groups around the community assisting the Food Pantry and other charitable organizations.

The DSU Career Service Association is conducting a food drive for the Lake County Food Pantry to help with their daily requests and their upcoming holiday meal distributions.  We are collecting non-perishable food items, toiletries and monetary donations.  Here are a few examples of needed items from the Food Pantry staff:

• Food:  boxed stuffing, canned vegetables, boxed potatoes and any other holiday fixing or everyday food item (must be boxed, canned or otherwise considered non-perishable)
• Toiletries:  toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, laundry soap, and other personal hygiene items
• Monetary:  used to purchase items such as meat or drinks that are perishable.  Monetary donations need to be payable to Lake County Food Pantry.

Please bring your donations before December 5th to any of the collection boxes located in each building on campus (except dorms).  We will deliver the donations to the Food Pantry the following week.  The boxes are orange or yellow and are marked accordingly.  If you choose to give a monetary donation, please bring or send your check payable to the Lake County Food Pantry to me in Heston Hall or to Shannon Vostad in the Karl E.
