The funeral for slain Turner County Deputy Sheriff Chad Mechels is scheduled for Wednesday, 3/18/09 at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse. Dakota State University has been asked by law enforcement to use campus parking from 11am – 4pm from 9th Street north past the Fieldhouse. These areas would include the North Lot, DPP Lot, Fieldhouse Lots and all parking on North Washington Avenue. Vehicles will be parked two wide on the west side of Washington Ave. Madison PD will handle the re-routing of traffic. We are expecting 1000-1500 people attending this service.
DSU Parking program is requesting students who are parking in these areas to relocate during this time to allow parking for this event. Parking Policies will not be enforced except in ha |

Smith-Zimmermann Museum will be hosting a “brown-bagger” program titled “The Winchester Hardware Store Era” on Wednesday, February 25 at 12:00 P.M. John Goeman will explain several historical Winchester artifacts that he will have on display. The public is invited to attend. Bring a lunch if you'd like. Coffee and juice will be furnished. |

Join the community of readers throughout the state in the Big Read Egypt, presented by the South Dakota Center for the Book. “The Thief and the Dogs” by Naguib Mahfouz describes the trials and attempt for revenge of a man recently released from prison. Mahfouz is the only Egyptian to have won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Copies of the book are available at the Mundt Library. A program will be held later in the semester relating to the novel. |

The Health Information Management (HIM) Club is sponsoring a fundraising night at Pizza Ranch on Monday January 26th from 5-8 p.m. During that time 15% of all food sales (including dine-in and carryout) go to support the Health Information Management (HIM) Club’s fundraising cause. Be sure to mention you are there for the fundraiser. We could really use all the campus support we can get. The South Dakota Art Museum announces a 2-day Monotype Printmaking Workshop with nationally recognized Lakota artist Roger Broer from Hill City, South Dakota. Roger and will be exhibiting his work in the DSU Gallery next October. This is a great opportunity to learn the art of monotype printmaking from an artist renowned for this kind of work. The workshop runs Saturday and Sunday January 23rd and 24th.
