Angel Tree Project

Print E-mail
Wednesday, 19 November 2008, Written by Amber Sherman
In the time of giving, spread some holiday cheer to the Madison community.  This year we  could really use some toiletry items (shampoos, lotions, soaps, etc.) books, socks/underwear, hats and gloves, or anything you could think of. The Angel Tree project will be running from November 18th to December 12th, and you may place them on or under the tree.  It is located in the Kennedy Center. This is being put on by Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and if you need any further information please contact Amber Sherman ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Happy Holidays! :)

You may have heard in the news lately that the Lake County Food Pantry is running dangerously low on supplies this year due to the economic downturn.  Kudos to the Karl E. Mundt Library staff for their recent Food for Fines campaign to collect food for the Food Pantry; and to the other groups around the community assisting the Food Pantry and other charitable organizations.

The DSU Career Service Association is conducting a food drive for the Lake County Food Pantry to help with their daily requests and their upcoming holiday meal distributions.  We are collecting non-perishable food items, toiletries and monetary donations.  Here are a few examples of needed items from the Food Pantry staff:

Please support the Madison Food Pantry; it’s at its lowest level in years.  They are in need of toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste etc) and boxed items (Hamburger Helper, Mac & Cheese, cereals etc).  Our goal is 400 items by the end of November.  Please help us reach this goal; I know we can do it with your help.

Bring your items to The Community Center, sign up to win a free turkey when you do!  Thank you for your support!

Thursday, 02 October 2008, Written by Deana Hueners-Nelson

Exercise your right to vote! A voter registration drive will be held in the DSU Marketplace in the coming weeks. Those interested in voting in the November election need to fill out a voter registration card. Each person determines the county in which he or she wishes to register, so filling out the paperwork in the Marketplace does not mean that you need to vote in Lake County. Applications for absentee ballots and sample ballots will also be available.
